Throughout history, Waqf (Islamic endowment) has been considered as an Islamic institution to improve spiritual and human wellbeing in Muslim societies.

Waqf as a nonprofit sector, has played a vital role in the provision of social services such as education, hospitals and public facilities such as roads, mosques, bridges, caring for the orphans, the poor, the needy, the handicapped , the old etc.

Whilst Waqf forms a great part of socio-economic budgets of some countries, our side of the world(the Muslim community in Ghana precisely) hasn’t yet realized the significance of this initiative, thus, its people haven’t felt the need for the willpower to effectively govern and manage the scattered Waqf organizations in their various societies.

Due to lack of abundant knowledge on Waqf organizations and how they’re governed and managed in our community, there has been a number of riots regarding the governance/ ownership of some public organizations(supposedly Waqf organizations)between families of caretakers and the general public.
Admittedly, there’s so much to be done with regards to this issue in our Zango communities, in terms of proper governance, management, system, collective agenda etc.

Based on the above background, AZAC is starting a webinar slated per the details in the attached flyer; to inform and equip interested candidates with sufficient knowledge in Waqf governance and management for a better representation of this great Islamic initiative in our Zangos.

Register now and don’t be left out.
